Internet Marketing – Most People Don’t Get It
Making money online is a real mystery to most folks. I honestly believe that the majority of people look at money making opportunities and the internet as just one big scam. In a lot of ways, I don’t blame them for being skeptical considering the amount of bad press Internet marketing has received over the years.
Yes, there is a real stigma attached to making money online. Most doubters don’t have a clue, they are quick to discount it and ridicule anyone that “claims” to be making a success of it.
In a way, I don’t really blame them considering the amount of crap that is churned out over the net every day. Porn, spam, scams – all this has given the internet, as a whole, a major black eye. Unfortunately, the majority of people lump everything together. Once they hear that you make money online, it’s got to be shady, immoral, or possibly illegal. Because they don’t know anyone that does this, they have a hard time believing that it’s even possible.
The fact of the matter is that there is a huge opportunity to build the lifestyle you want, simply by working from your computer. I now devote at least eight hours per day to this venture. I’m not making a huge amount of money, but it is enough to pay the bills and not worry about returning to the city to join all the other 9-5ers.
Over time, I’ll be able to work less since the business has yet to gain any true momentum. I can’t wait for that “residual” effect to kick in.
To me, this is priceless.
And if you’re reading this and thinking that you can’t do it because you don’t have the skills, I can tell you that I was completely computer and internet illiterate before starting my first blog (this isn’t it, by the way).
That was in 2005. I know what you’re thinking: I’ve had three years of experience in internet marketing, so it’s easy for me to sit back and preach about how good it is. Well, in reality, I was only running this blog and another up until nine months ago. I also didn’t start these sites with the intent of making money.
The other thing about this site is that I didn’t create it from scratch. It’s a blog platform called WordPress. It can be installed with a few mouse clicks once you purchase some web hosting. Once you have it up and running, there are thousands of designs you can choose from. Again, everything is done with a few mouse clicks.
Granted, it did take me a while to get used to hosting my own site, but it’s nothing that the average person can’t do.
Actually, the biggest challenge to making money online is getting traffic to your site, not being a technical whiz or a prolific writer.
