Over the past few years, I’ve managed to accumulate around 50 sites while pursuing internet marketing. Now, that may sound like a lot, but keep in mind that they are all in different stages of development. In fact, there are some that I haven’t visited in quite some time.
Most are WordPress installs because I love the fact that you can install it with a few clicks using fantastico. After a few minor tweaks for seo, I am good to go and can start posting content. The internet marketing lifestyle is amazing.
I know that many people who are just getting started with this may find it hard to believe that things will get better, but, believe me, if you are following the basic tried and true methods, and you are giving it your all, you can’t help but succeed eventually.
And let’s be honest: success means different things to different people. While one person may define success as getting to the point where their basic needs are covered, others may not feel successful until they have filled their lives with all the latest consumer junk. I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again – “Internet marketing ain’t easy.”
In fact, you probably won’t make it in this business unless you have a thick skin and you can roll with the punches. Between the search engines and Web 2.0 sites having the ability to cut off your income in seconds flat, to the scamming little scumbags that think it is perfectly normal to take someone’s property and do what they want with it, it is an uphill battle.
And that goes against my basic philosophy. When I started this journey in 2005, one of my main goals was to decrease the amount of stress in my life. Piece of mind and freedom mean a whole lot more to me than money. True, you need money to live, but it is the price you pay to get it that really matters. If I wanted to get stressed out, I could simply return to the workplace and make more cash than I am making now. Read the rest of this entry
