Just a quick update on things:

Health

I have been close to my ideal weight of 170lbs for some time now. It has been an uphill battle though, considering that I spend most of my day in front of the computer. The key is to develop healthy eating habits and make sure you take a walk or exercise every day. Yeah, I know that sounds obvious, but until I actually got into the habit of eating properly and exercising, I was bouncing up and down like a yo-yo.

My main problem was that I had a bad habit of eating unhealthy and not exercising. For those who also struggle with their weight, it is possible to adopt new, healthier habits that are just as powerful as those bad ones. More on this in later posts.

It has been 3 years since I began losing weight. I’ve come a long way since breaking away from that unhealthy life-style. Back then, I was just over 260 lbs and living on borrowed time.

There is no doubt that I’d have serious health issues today (or worse) if I had continued down that path.

The lifestyle change alone makes it all worth while. I can now do things I would have never attempted back then. This is actually something that I never stopped to think about when I was obese. I always wanted to lose weight for health reasons (and that should be the main motivation), but the lifestyle change was something of a bonus. I have taken up skiing in the winter months now and I believe I have finally found an activity that I can truly immerse myself in.

Money/Business

I am happy to say that I am finally making a comfortable living doing IM. I can’t believe I am saying this because I really had my doubts up until a few months ago. It has taken almost 2 years to get to this point, but I’m glad I stuck with it. For those of you wondering how it could take that long to start seeing a regular income, all I can say is that I made a lot of mistakes – some really stupid mistakes.

Personal

I have moved from my “shack” and the few acres of land I had. The novelty of living the minimalist lifestyle in the woods of Northern Ontario wore a little thin after surviving two winters of waking up every morning to a freezing house, a cold wood-stove, and minus 20 temperatures outside. Not to mention the fact that I never really fit in with the locals.

Anyway, I’ll be posting about this more soon.

I am currently living in ski country in the Collingwood area of Central Ontario. The money from the sale of the property allowed me to buy a condo. Yep, life is pretty good at the moment.

I am still living below what most would consider the poverty line. I simply take what I need to live on, give a little to charity, and then bank the rest. I really have no desire to get caught up my former lifestyle again.
